Who does end of rescuing her. So there are my vague summaries of books i read at one type and can't remember. I've been looking for these forever it seems like cuz they were really good Help! Do you all know about Byron? The last one sounds a little like a Theresa Charles book which was published as both Dark Legacy and Happy now I go, neither of which touchstone. I love this book. I don't think it's that one since I remember it being more contemporary then that It was republished in the 80s, but it was very much set in WW2. Although since it was written during WW2 orignally the "feel" is more contemporary.
Sort of. But the French part is not it. A woman wakes up in the hospital in France after a car crash. She has amnesia and doesn't recognize the man who claims to be her husband. He lives in a castle with his mother and sister -- and they have a daughter she doesn't remember either. Eventually it turns out to be a case of mistaken identity. Too bad no one else recognizes my first one! It sounds interesting. I just added it to the Romantic Times Book Sleuth discussion thread, though. Winnie, I don't see a post that you found your book 21 yet.
Could it be Love's Charade by Jane Feather? Oh, this is so exciting! The book I'm looking for is a totally trashy romance my cousin and I read for the sex scenes when we were younger. It involved this guy who was a teacher or a professor and had bright red hair. Anyway, he had sex with a bunch of girls, and they all came back to this reunion with batches of redhaired children It was cheesy, but I remember it so vividly and wish I could find it again!
Anybody recognize it? No sorry. But welcome to the group superblondgirl! Jenson, According to the people on the Romantic Times Message Boards, my book 2 up there is Fantasy by Lori Foster , which they say was originally published as part of a series romance and then repubed after she got famous. I've got it bookmooched now, but I haven't received it yet, so I'll let you know when I get it in. Ireland, I have Foster's Fantasy, but I didn't recognize it from the bits you remembered. Here's the blurb from the back cover: Security consultant Sebastian Sinclair agrees to be sold at a bachelor auction.
Being bought is one thing, now he's about to be given away as a gift for some lucky birthday girl. But one look at Brandi Sommers and Sebastian can't wait to be unwrapped. Brandi really means it when she says "Oh, you shouldn't have" to her sister's outrageous birthday gift, a five-day dream vacation to a lovers' retreat. Lover included. What's she going to do in paradise with the sexy stranger Sebastrian Sinclair? Brandi soon discovers she can do whatever she wants.
I remember this one now. If you like Fantasy, and you haven't read the other Visitation books, you should. They are all fabulous! I hope someone can tell me what this book is. I read it years ago, from the library, and could never figure out what the book was after I sent it back. I don't know names either. All I remember was that the lady was going on vacation in either scotland or england. She was staying in a type of lodge or log cabin.
There was something magical that appeared, some type of God or Faery. They fell in love. It was forbidden for him to love someone, so he was sent back to no-where land before a council to get his fate judged. She went home and balled her eyes out. She told her sister or someone close to her about him, and the person was convinced that it was all a dream, that she had from the plot of a book she was reading. She convinced herself of that too. Then months later he moves in across the street from her, and thats the end of the book. I keep thinking that he begged the councel to send him back as a person so they could have a life together.
BUT I have a very active imagination, so I don't know if that was in there or if I just dreamed it up myself when the book was done with. Thanks :D. The Secret Life of Bryan was one of my faves of the visitation series. I'll have to check out fantasy, it sounds good. Ireland, it will be interesting to see if they got the right book. CrazyDaisyLou - It kind of sounds like a short story I read in Man of My Dreams which was an anthology except the ending it much, much different.
In this short story the heroine is a librarian who discovers her former lover at a solstace celebration. He left her because he had been taken by the fairies and was the consort of the fairy queen. It's probably not the same one but I thought I'd mention it. It does sound like a very good story, hope you figure out what it is. There is a Johanna Lindsey with a plot like this.
The heroine is named Rosalind or something like that and is a medieval history professor. She collects swords and bought one that was cursed and brought forth Thor, a Viking warrior. They fall in love and travel through time, and the only way to break the curse is if she voluntarily gives him the sword back, which she does to free him, but it send them back to their respective times.
Her brother and best friend both tell her she's been sick and it's been a dream or some such thing and at the end Thor does appear in her time as a modern man, having appealed to Odin in Valhalla to give him a second chance at life. I think it was called Until Forever or something like that. Her name is Roseleen, but other than that you are on the mark gracer. It is called Until Forever. I don't usually read contemporaries, but I remember reading one when I was younger that I would like to find again.
It was written in the 80s and followed the romantic lives of music prodigies who meet at school as teenagers. It followed them into adulthood and was an old school 80s epic. The main character is a virtuoso girl who is considerably younger than the others who has a serious case of unrequited love for the big man on campus. He de-flowers her an expression one never uses outside of a romance novel and then walks out on her. They wind up getting together years later and she of course has only ever had sex once with him as a teenager because who knows.
They also have a male friend who is involved in some weird bi-threesome plot where he refers to some sex act as being as romantic as "changing a light bulb. Thanks so much Gracer and LucyMaude. I hope this is it, it sounds like it is. I'm surprised I don't have it, considering I've collected 25 Johanna Lindsey novels so far. But I'm 25, and it's been at least 9 years since I read it, and I didn't even actually own any books back then. I am SO going out tomorrow to look for it.
Remember Me there are 3 of them. I am still looking for the book in message Here is the description from bn. Synopsis Eyes snapping emerald fire, Isabeau DeBurgh alias the Devil's Flame-sat motionless upon her fine black stallion. The most feared and notorious highwayman of them all was about to strike Publishers Weekly Readers who don't put a premium on originality may find this fast-paced tale of s England amusing, with its masterful hero and spunky heroine. Isabeau DeBurgh, a beautiful woman with a hot temper and a vocabulary to match, earns a living at what she does best--highway robbery.
But the night she tries to rob Lord Griffin Stone, an aristocratic black sheep just back from America, her luck runs out; he wounds her in a sword fight. Griffin won't turn Isabeau over to the authorities who might hang her nor turn her loose to steal, so he decides to take her home, dress her up and teach her the finer points of etiquette. Meanwhile Isabeau develops a soft spot in her heart for Griffin, as he does for her. And why not? Compared to the rest of the crew, a mere thief looks pretty attractive. Winniekuhl, I think I have solved the mystery of I knew it sounded familiar, I just had a hard time coming up with the name.
It is Birdie by Taylor Ryan. It is a Harlequin Historical published in Actually, a copy is being sold on ebay right now if you want to look at it. I probably shouldn't be so confident. After all I could be wrong. But I hope I'm not. Let me know if I got it. Thanks megkrahl, I read the desciption and it is not it. Thanks for trying! Hi Winnie, i thought it might be The Rogue and the Hellion by Connie Mason as she is a highwayman, but found out to be a girl, he takes her back to teach her a lesson but she turns out to be a lady!
But then i realised it wasn't published until , might have been re-released, but i thought it was worth a mention just incase Hope you find what yr looking for! Her flirtatious sister, Daphne, is engaged to a man who will only inherit if he is married by a certain date. Daphne elopes, leaving behind a note and her wedding dress. Sophie shows up at the altar, but Alex, the bridegroom, recognizes her for who she is. They agree to marry to allow him to inherit and her to save face for her sister. It does sound familiar, but I am at a loss as well. The names of the sisters are different, but the plot sounds very similar.
In the Bradley story, the sisters are twins. Could be it. I found a description: Lovely Sophia Forest was a very intellectual young lady for the year in Regency England--quite different from her beautiful and flighty sister, Daphne. All London was agog when Sophia rather than Daphne wed the dashing Earl of Gresham, whose scorn for bookish females was well-known. The marriage was intended as a business arrangement only--to preserve the Earl's fortune and give Sophia financial independence.
But what was Sophia to do when she found herself enamoured of her husband, though too proud to admit it? Sophia needed all her wit and womanly wiles in a game of pretense and passion, to make the man she loved, love her. We'll see if it's the right one. It's original copyright date was Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help me find the names of two books I read some years ago. I believe they were published around always before August I believe they are from British authors.
They are both romances. One has a yellow cover with little cakes or cupcakes - I don't recall on them. She shares her house with some friends. The book is really funny. The other one has a light blue cover and I don't remember the story that well. I do know that in the end, the guy gives the girl a unique rose that he himself well, his company I guess created by matching 2 types of roses.
In this last one, I just remembered that in the beginning, the girl is trying some clothes in a shop and afraid of a bee runs topless through the shop and bumps into the guy. Well, I know it's not much, but if anyone could help, I'd be very grateful. Thank you very much. I love that you guys have this section. New here, so please bear with me. I also think she had a girlfriend who runs a local bookshop. I know it isn't much to go on, but every time I think I may be remembering more of the story I start to think I'm combining two stories into one.
It's driving me batty. Nyah99 -- yellow cover with possible cupcakes reminds me of He Loves Lucy by Susan Donovan , but I'm not sure that's your book. This one takes place in Miami? The heroine has a goal to lose weight for publicity with the hero being her trainer. Not one of the Bridgertons I'll dig around a bit and see if I can come up with a title.
Thank you so much both of you. Thank you again. Thank you for your help. I've just found the name of the other book. First of all, its cover is not blue, but white. Aviddiva- Thanks. It could be Amanda Quick, though I still can't seem to place it. And it seems like she has several with trading places type themes. I'll keep digging thru her stuff and see, though I appreciate you still looking as well.

The Duke's grandfather corresponds with the heroine and carries on the courtship. Grandpa dies and when grandson comes back from the war, he finds out he is engaged to her. Grandson goes to confront her, she thinks he is the new footman she has hired and the story then continues. It's pretty funny actually. Hope this helps. In that book, the hero is disguised as the heroine's butler.
He is a spy and the powers that be believe that her deceased husband had something of importance he was a spy too. There is also a Julia Quinn where the hero shows up and pretends to be her estate manager or something similar. She's the impoverished daughter of an earl or something similar who is working as a paid companion to a crotchety old lady who's nephew is a Marquis posing as her estate manager to get to the bottom of who is blackmailing her. Very funny and entertaining! Thanks guys. Oddly, I have missed all of those and will now be reading those to see if maybe I've just lost my entire peas sized brain and maybe DID actually read one of those.
Hopefully it'll come to me soon as it's still tickling the back of my mind constantly. Very sad I tell you. Thanks again! I'm pretty sure its a historical romance but all i remember is that the hero if the book is sold at an auction. He is bought by a woman for her daughter. I don't remember the name or the author of the book. I have a vague memory of one like that as well, but can't quite place it. I need some help with a book title too, It's a historical romance and the lady poses as a highwayman to take cre of the estate.
The lady also posed as an ugly crone on the night their supposed meeting. Not quite sure this fits the bill but My Lady Notorius by Jo Beverley has a highwayman heroine with a cruel father and brother. She is trying to protect her widowed sister and baby who the father is trying to marry off to some awful man. The book is part of the Malloren series and takes place in Georgian England. The one you describe sounds familiar too but so far it's escaping me! Hi everyone! Here goes nothing I'm looking for a book that's been bugging me for about a month now.
I don't know the title or author or character names. I think the "hero" is from a well-known, well-off family. I know the "heroine" is from a poor family. She has red hair. I'm not sure if she has an older brother or dad. I remember the first chapter or so clearly, but not sure if the rest when they're older is correct or from another story. I think the two sisters were off to the store I think the sister was hitting on the guy Sadly, that's all I remember.
I keep thinking Linda Howard, but I just don't know Thank-you for any help you guys can give. I will try my best to do the same. Thank you again! It is! Thank-you so much! I cannot believe how I could have overlooked that! I had a feeling it might've been Linda Howard Thank-you again! Hi Suge, I tried to read all the threads and it doesn't look as if anyone had named your book, but I have the answer!
It was one of the first romance novels I ever owned and one I go back to and reread every now and then! Hi, all--I'm trying to find a certain book. It was out in paperback before probably well before that. The setting is definitely 19th century or earlier nobility, etc. I remember two main things about it: earlier on, there's a scene where the heroine is in the library with the hero moonlight, filmy nightgown, lots of sexual tension ; later, he kidnaps her and they're in an inn--very steamy sex then.
If any of you can help, it would be much appreciated! Isisreads, if you reverse the order of the scenes with the library later than the inn , there are two scenes very similar to what you've described in Judith Ivory 's Untie My Heart. It's my least favourite Ivory book but lots of other people absolutely love it. Of course, an inn and a library are kind of popular settings for historical romance, so any other details you can supply might help readers here pinpoint the book you're looking for.
I'm looking for a book I read around 5 or 6 years ago so let's say for starters that I picked up at a book sale at the local library. So it had probably been around for a while before that. The setting of the novel is I believe in a sort of system similar to 19th or 18th century England where there were still nobles around that controlled estates and whatnot. Additionally, fine carriages and at least unsophisticated firearms were around too if I remember correctly.
The plot revolves around a heroine named Kate or something similar - I want to say her full name was Kathleen or Katherine or something along those lines who has gotten stuck with running the family estate because her brother, who should be in charge, is incompetent and doesn't really do anything. At the same time she's riding around in dark clothes on a black horse, holding up stagecoaches for some odd reason. It had to do with the family honor - I want to say she was looking to catch smugglers or something along those lines?
Don't remember too well. But she's holding up these coaches looking for something. Now a gentleman from somewhere else visits the estate for a bit for some reason or another and love begins to spark between him and Kate don't remember his name, sorry. He begins to deduce that she's the highwayman in question and follows her one night when she makes a run. Things go wrong on this trip and she gets shot by a guy in the carriage but the gentleman saves her and brings her back to her home.
He then covers for her in order to make sure no one else found out about her double life. Near the end of the story Kate finds that some of her brother's friends one creepy guy in particular who keeps on hitting on her are performing some criminal activity on the family land. She gets captured and the gentleman goes to save her, killing the ringleader in a duel.
So yeah sorry there aren't too many specific details but that's what I remember from the book. Hope someone can help me find it - even a couple of general titles that might fit the profile would help! Gasharko, I don't know the name of the book you seek although it sounds tantalizingly familiar but this list of "highwayman" themed regencies, which includes stories with women in male bandit disguise, might help you find what you're looking for: Highwaymen themed romances at The Nonesuch.
Hello from Australia — I am searching for a book — unknown title or author The other central character is the dashing pirate who attempts to seduce and control her. Cheers from Aus, Tan. I need some help to name a book. I know the book was a Harlequin Presents I want to say around or later about a married guy who was dating another younger woman. She stops the affair and he tries to convince her not to.
He worked for father-in-law. The man's wife was a paralytic, and at the end of the book, she leaves the husband for her nurse? If anybody could remember the title, I would appreciate. It has been bothering me about remembering the title. Hi Guys, I am new to this group, and I was hoping to get some help finding a book i read around It is basically about a temporary housekeeper or a helper who is 8 months pregnant, and you later find out that she is a virgin.
TV listings: Here are the feature and TV films airing the week of June 30 - July 6, 12222
The owner of the house who is a businessman, ends up falling in love with her. I think in the scene that she tells the hero that she is a virgin is where she is getting made fun off by local boys, as she is young and seen as easy because she winds up pregnant. She is actually a surrogate for her sister and her husband, but both die in an accident leaving her alone. To take care of herself and the child, she gets this temp job. I believe she is Italian. He also helps her give birth to the child in his house, which i think is a girl. The last scene is of them getting married, and she is walking down the aisle, looking at the baby and thinking about everything.
I have been trying to recall this book for a long time but as it is one of the first ones I read, I don't remember more about it. I have looked through many book lists and themed lists to find it including all romance writers, romancewiki, and fictiondb. I would really appreciate any help i get. I think the heroine has never been rich, and I am positive the setting is in the U. But thanks anyways. Let me know if any others come to your mind. Maybe this one? Myles Wellington still grieved over the loss of his young wife, but when he learned that her sister, Faith, was carrying his child, he felt the stirrings of life inside he'd believed he'd never feel again!

Myles wanted this child, but he was shocked to discover he wanted Faith even more. Exulting in the intense desires she aroused in him to protect, to possess, Myles struggled to break free of the past. Could they put to rest their memories of the woman they'd both loved and build a future together? Sounds like the kind of plots they have. It could be presents, romance, or american romance. I just came across a special edition silhouette called An abundance of babies by Marie Ferrarella but it isnt the one, which is very similar!
I am almost starting to feel like the book doesnt exist. Any of you feel that way while looking for a book? I was searching through vintageromances. You said you read the book in the early 's so I've only been looking for books in that time frame, but could it also have been published in the 's? Also, is there anything you remember about the cover, such as color maybe? It is possible it was published in the late 90s. I was thinking the cover had yellow and blue on it Pregnant female butler 8-months along.
The book summary doesn't mention surrogacy, but the term did show up two times when I searched for that term in Google Books. XD The heroine is a surrogate for her aunt and uncle though. This is it!!! Yea I had a feeling the summary wouldn't mention surrogacy, but I was wrong about the sister and husband. Thank you so much! Once i saw the cover, I realized I have seen it before. Let me know if you need help finding a book, I'll be sure to return the favour.
Hi guys i'am so glad to have found this place I have been looking for this Victorian romance about the hero being engaged since he was young by his father. My name is Florecer and I am a new member of this group. First let me answer the question of Nyah99, the post number 84 about the last novel: the description sounds like "The Shocking Lord Standon" by Louise Allen, and is part of the Revenhurst Saga. Here a leave the book description. He cannot honorably deny them, but he won't be forced into marriage. Encountering a respectable governess in scandalizing circumstances, Gareth demands her help—to make him entirely ineligible.
He educates the buttoned-up Miss Jessica Gifford in the courtesan's arts. But Gareth hasn't bargained on such an ardent, clever pupil—or on his passionate response to her! He wanted to cause a stir—it seems they are about to brew a scandal! The list the list in the correct order is: 1. Ravenhurst 6. Hurst 7. Now is my turn to have a question. I am looking for a book whose name and author I can not remember.
The plot was somthing like this: two sisters twins are abducted by a bandit. This man promises to free one of the sisters if the other promises to stay with him. One of them grants the motion and gradually discovers that the villain has a noble heart. I read the description when I was looking for other books to read, but never wrote down the data of this book to read next.
If any of you could tell me the name of the book or author, I am very grateful for your help. Okay, I read this book several years ago, and can't remember what the title or author is. Its a Regency romance. The main female lives in the slums of England. I don't really remember who the hero was, he was an earl or something i think, and he takes her in and makes her over. But near the end of the book I think they have a fight and she returns to the slums just as a cholera outbreak hits. She has a prostitute friend who dies and because she then catches cholera as well, she loses the baby she was pregnant with.
I don't know the book and really want to read it again. She is English but she grew up in the Paris slums. The Earl seeks her out for revenge complicated plot and then agrees to marry her back in England. They have a short lived blissful time but then have a big disagreement she learns the truth about him and she goes back to Paris and the slums. There is a cholera epidemic there after she leaves him in England. I think she did lose a baby, but I can't remember for sure. It was a really good book. He has a scarred face and this is the last of a trilogy of brothers. Is this it? Woohoo, a success story!
Yay for a happy ending! I never know these, which is weird because I've read so many romances. Hi,I m looking for a harlequin I read many many years ago. The heroine is english and visits her cousin who lives in a farm in France i think with her husband. The heroine also helps out in the farm.
Her cousin tries to ruin everything she does around the farm -remember an incident where the heroine cooks soup for the farm workers and the cousin drops soap in it on purpose to ruin it. The farm owner who is her cousin's brother in law is very prejudiced against her. I want to read it again! Can't believe it really! I ve been looking for this book for so long and you just found it right away! I ve got another one but I am afraid that's much harder to find since I remember so little of it It's all thanks to the person who runs the Vintage Romances website.
The cover is pink and yellow-orange stripes with a combat boot and a doll. One is about a man who proposes to his girlfriend with a green ring, next to a dock or some water, and a sea monster like pops out and steals the ring. The man jumps in after it. He eventually gets it back and returns.
He gives the ring to his girlfriend and she says she'd like it better if it was blue or some other color. Might be called Suburbia? Looking for a book from the s I think, about a girl whose teacher stays with her while her parents are away. I don't remember much except she had a party and the teacher made a "cake" with tuna in the middle of a loaf of bread and frosted it with cream cheese. I know it's odd but that's the main thing I remember to this day lol. Published prior to One leader eventually disappears when not a diamond using magic.
Underground cult uses magic to overthrow system and a leader eventually achieves lifetime ambition of disappearing into a diamond. In looking for a book i read to teens. It's about a young girl camp counselor that took misfit teens camping. They had a volunteer grandma with them. Along the bike they encountered a group of motorcycle guys that followed them and caused trouble. If I remember right, it's categorized as a Young Adult book. It's about this girl and boy who I think they used to date, but for some reason they split and part their own ways, but they keep writing letters to each other that's how the book is narrated; with the letters i can't remember but i think the girl stops writing and the guy is struggling to keep up with growing up and becoming a responsible adult.
I think the girl goes of to college and finds someone else. I am looking for a play theather play that I watched many years ago. It is about two boys raised by their parents in very different ways. Like a psychological experiment. The parents or one of them is a psychologist. One is raised in the attic, locked and isolated. And the other is raised freely, regularly registered at the school. I am looking for an illustrated children's book I read 30 years back. The publisher was "Treasure Press".
The title had the words "The Golden Monkey" I forget whether it was Legend of the Golden Monkey or Tales of the golden monkey or legend of the golden monkey. Any clues? I am looking for a book that i used to read when i was very young. A male assasin partners up with a female assasin and they start to save people instead. One novel involved an Eastern European police officer who the mob killed and sold the young ballet dancing daughter into sex slavery for revenge and fear to the village.
The daughter ends up being trafficked to Las Vegas and main characters save her. I am looking for a book from the 90's. It was a young adult book. She finds out she can't have kids because of some STD the bad boy gave her. In the end she uses a payphone to call her mother. The cover had a backpack, postcards, and a red bra in sand on it. I am looking for an anthology of sci-fi short stories. One story I remember is about a girl who rides her bike beyond her block and discovers a gas station.
Later she can't find it. It turns out the town is just an elaborate facade. Her parents aren't her parents. Something dealing with a pumpkin shows a glitch in the false reality. Looking for a girl born given to her sister. Has two ballerina outfits on it and a person hugging the girl. Am looking for a children's book I read in the s. Looking for a children's book about two sisters who are at the beach when the beach is evacuated but they are left stranded. An old woman who lives at the beach beckons them to come out of the oncoming storm.

Hello, I am looking for a children's picture book about a boy who was trying to find a friend. He tried to make a friend out of a tumbleweed, and out of a cactus. Finally he rode across a rainbow, and at the end found a friend. This was from the late 70's, early 80's. Thanks for the help! Christine Amaryllis. Hi, my son is trying to find a book he read about 5 years ago but cannot remember the name or the author.
It's about game hunters in Africa that get stopped by 2 children. Not much to go on I appreciate this but it is worth a shot. Thanks Gaz. Cutbytheshell22 If you're still looking for the crow book it might be Trickster's Choice by Tamora Pierce. Gypsiegately The book you're looking for is Haunted by Meg Cabot. It's the 5th book in the mediator series. I used to love it and really want to find it so my kids can read it.
I'm looking for book that is a series. It was about a girl who is human AMD half sky spirit. She meets a boy who turns in a loupe which is the french word for wolf. I cant remember the name of the 1st book but I remember that if the wolf gets touched by sun or transforms during the day he stays that way forever.
Help I loved the series. I was reading it when I was in middle school. I cant remember the name of a childhood book I've read! It has a girl character that never wanted to bathe and she was so dirty, flowers began growing out of her skin. I'm looking for a book I read from the older young adult section when I was in elementary school. For some reason, white tennis shoes seem really relevant to this book. Trying to find a book about a boy set in a medieval time period who finds out he has illegal powers where he can control an invisible force. He leaves his home on a journey to find his traitorous brother who is like the advisor to the king.
The brother is also an illegal mage who tries to kill the king but the boy saves the king. I'm trying to remember a romance book I read about 7 years ago or so. It takes place in the modern day, and went back and forth for main characters by a vampire and a human woman who was a vet. She had a birthmark that when the vampire saw it know she was his soul mate but only saw it after he attacked her when he needed blood. She also had a power to heal at will but tried to keep it hidden except for one time she healed a dog who was going to die.
Later in the story she met other vampires with their mates who also had the same birthmark as her and they each had different powers too. He ended up at a small cottage on the ocean. Swam a lot, layed in the sun a lot, and began to heal. At some point he began to keep some special kind of bees. Any thought on the name? I read a book in that was about an elderly man who took his money out of the bank - bought a car perhaps a Cadillac and drive off. It was quite amusing. I would love to know the name of the book. Thank you. One day the boy was driving the car down a country road and he either hit a little girl on her bicycle or swerved to miss her.
The boy ended up on crutches and the grandpa was not seriously injured, but I think the little girl was. The grandfather claimed it had been him who was driving the truck, and he was arrested for reckless driving or something like that. The rest of the book revolves around the main character, the grandson, struggling to decide whether to tell the truth that he was the one driving or let his grandfather take the fall for him. I remember some minor details such as the main character begins dating a popular girl named Maxine, Justine, or Georgina, something like that. I also know there was a certain country song that was playing when the car accident happened and the main character hears it on the radio several times throughout the book.
I remember that his dad has been a firefighter and was killed trying to save a little boy who had fallen from the ice. I have spent years trying to Google the name of the book based off details I remember, but have come up with nothing. If anyone recognizes the book, please let me know. There's a book I remeber reading in the beginning of highschool.
It was about a vampire that had bitten this boy? Anyways the plot I remember is that he resists biting someone and its a really big struggle. There's a specific scene I really remember it's when the family is cooking a steak dinner. He asks for his steak rare and his older brother is grossed out. I remember it ending on an ambiguous ending, where he shuts himself in his room. He struggling a lot and I'm pretty sure he was getting weaker and weaker as he wouldn't drink human blood.
The cover was black and had a yellow smile face, I think there was fangs and it had blood on the fangs. Please help? I read a book a long time ago in middle school and a very important theme was the main girl wears purple lipstick and always blotches them on a napkin. She and this girl have been competing for ever and I think at some point the main girl figures out her boyfriend was cheating with the other girl. So the boyfriend ends up dead with a purple lipstick mark on his cheek and everyone thinks it's the main girl.
She fights to prove she's innocent and shows the other girl was keeping her purple lipstick blotches napkins in a drawer and convinced people she used the napkin to frame her. The other girl ends up in a psych ward, main girl ends up with her male best friend and confesses she truly did murder her boyfriend and framed the other girl. In the 's or early 's I read a book about a teenage girl who lives with her single mother and younger sister.
Both the mother and sister seems to look to the teenage girl to take care of them emotionally. The teenage girl meets a boy and develops a relationship while the younger sister is promiscuous and ends up pregnant.
The younger sister lies about how far along she is so a nice boy thinks it's his and married her. The younger sister husband leaves after discovering baby isnt his, younger sister baby is removed and they expect teenage girl to fix it for them. Girl decides to leave for art school and let her family and her clingy boyfriend to care for themselves. Anyone remember this book? Its driving me crazy trying to remember the name of the book and the character names.
They try to go into the city by jumping onto a train and they end up finding they need to get her on a boat to get home, so they have to either swim across a ocean or pay to cross the bridge. There is also this beast who I believe left his master, he ends up fighting an alligator and winning, but just barely, after he accepts death. I can't remember the name of the book I read about a girl in a dystopian world may have had a mother and Brother die in very beginning, don't remember but she comes across a group of men and to protect her from a severe rape and possible death, one of the men "gently" rapes her and she either escapes or the men just leave since they successfully got her; and she ends up pregnant and has a baby girl.
Years later she is living in a cave society and ends up meeting the father of her daughter and learns h e had done what he did to try and save her from worse, and they end up falling in love, though there is more to the actual book story. The book was the first in a series. I cant remember the name of this book I read. Its about a girl who is in art school, her dean tells her shes failing. She goes to look for this like retired artist who could mentor her.
Hes an alcoholic. He lives with this younger guy whos like a bad boy. And the mentor had been in a relationship with her mom before her mom died and she found letters in the mentors house. I think the girl had a really unique name and went by a shorter version.
I think she had drawn the bad boy the first time she met him and he kept that drawing. They I think started like dating and she got jealous of some girl who I think was his step mom or sister or something. Looking for a young adult book I read around It had 2 plots, one that took place during the present day and another during an s type time period. He explored a department store, and was taken home by an old woman who gave him a bath. It was regularly read aloud by Captain Kangaroo, on his TV show. I am looking for a book that I believe is only a picture book or at least very few sentences, about two gorilla families. The illustrations are marvelous but also contain some weird elements like trees turning into light poles, bowler hat clouds etc. From what I remember the main characters are two child gorillas from very different households one being rich and distant parents, the other being poor but very loving parents.
They meet at a park and play together. Looking for adult book about characters Blue and Pink in kids book. Spider weaving web on porch. Old woman fies. Settling estate. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am searching for a book that I think was called "The Promise". It is about reincarnation with an actress and writer discovering they had lived and loved in another lifetime. Others from this past life have also been reincarnated and are now closely involved in their current lives as well.
I don't recall all details, but seem to remember the actress's mother in the past interfering in her life and manipulates people and events until she ultimately and accidentally kills her daughter I read this book back in the 70's, so it is rather old. I can't remember the title or author. I read this book back in the 90s. The book is about an English woman who inherits a mansion but only if she goes on a quest to return a dragon egg within 1 years time.
The woman was a teacher in London. When she leaves on the quest, she takes a street-wise London boy with her. The egg is from the union of a dragon and human woman and is watched over and accompanied by an oriental unicorn creature. I think it was called a Ki-lin or Ky-rin maybe Qylin, not sure. The creature starts off as a small statue and he can shrink to tiny size or grow to the size of a horse. And he never harms anything, not even a blade of grass.
At the end of the book, the woman returns home to open an orphanage. When the egg hatches, there are twins inside. A perfect little dragon and a human baby. My friend thinks there might be a fox in the story also. I'm searching for a book that I was assigned to read for a college class in or It probably fits under the category of Intermediate Reader or possibly YA. Definitely historical fiction. It's the best book I've ever read, so I can't believe I don't remember the author or even the title. The story is set during the time when white people are leary of their Japanese neighbors.
The story centers around a girl and her family who have a farm I think on one of the San Juan Islands. Relatives come to stay with the girl's family and she is not happy about it because the female cousin is spoiled and tries to get her in trouble. The girl likes to go out sailing in her sailboat. One night she is out in her sailboat with her friend and it is foggy and they hear another boat nearby and they hear voices and the sound of a body being thrown overboard. When the boat leaves, the girl and her friend retrieve the body from the water and bring it back to shore.
The body turns out to be a Japanese man and they hide him and nurse him back to health. The would-be murderers of the Japanese man discover that he is still alive and chase the girl and her friend and cousin and the Japanese man across Puget Sound in their sailboats to Friday Harbor. It is an intense chase. Wish I could remember more of the book. Does anyone know the title of the book I'm thinking of? They get him on board and the chief engineer poisons him and takes money. The characters are, Lt. Commander Cordeau, Lt. Beech, Zola the stoker can't remember any more!!
The rogue engineer shoots Cordeau and takes Beech prisoner and then lets him go as he has run out of bullets. I think the book was called "Dead Mans Chest". Thanks in advance John. I can't for the life of me remember the rest of the book or what it is called! Can anyone see if they know! I am looking for a novel about a girl whose tree in her back yard has a world within where her parent go and get balloons of life that keep them young.
Cover I believe depicted a tree and red ballon of some sort. It was about a female inmate who was in a horse training program. I think a guy adopted the horse she was working with, but I remember she ended up going to his house to help train the horse. His child had special needs. And of course like all good books they fell in love in end. Horses name was something like Wildfire Its about some boys and a girl all working as detectives with sherlock holmes. There at a circus and some people perform tricks in code.
I want to learn the tricks but i dont know the book. Any ideas? I am looking for a book that I read in 5th grade. I am pretty sure the title was something like The Family. It was essentially about a family with 5 or 6 children, mostly boys, and their antics. This book was stuck in my mind because one of the sons dies after riding his bike down a hill and then crashing into the side of a car at the bottom. There was also another kid that really like to eat butter and was caught eating a whole stick of it and later got sent to the hospital with a really high fever, like The family's first Easter after the son's death was really hard.
The end of the book had the family go to Thanksgiving with their famous pudding and as they are about to leave the car one of the younger boys accidentally stepped in it and the mom was devastated that the pudding was ruined but the dad was like no it's fine the shoe was clean we don't need to tell anyone.
When dessert came around the parents were told that the pudding tasted better than ever so the mom and dad went to the kitchen to laugh really hard, the first time that they had laughed so hard since their son had died. This book is about a girl who met a guy while on vacation and decided to go back with him to his country and meet his family They first met with his brother who didn't seem to fond of her. A novel about a confused woman she sees shadows in a mirror, and she loses time.
They are chased and watched and end up in an alternate universe where there is a backwards ticking clock. A countdown of some sort that she has on her to accomplish a task. The driver can help, but it diminishes his life immensely to do this and she feels as though she has done this before. Can anyone help? Book is about a boy whose father was murdered in his childhood by a thief, he waits all his life with a knife to avenge his father's death.
The boy later grows up to be teacher in his own village and finds out that his favourite students father was the murderer of his father. At first he plans to seek revenge but after seeing his health condition he leaves him to his fate. Book about a boy whose family moves into a new house; he rides a bike to school I remember reading that he had to remember to go in a different direction than usual to get to his new house, otherwise he would've been at his old one.
I thought it could've been Time For Andrew, but it wasn't; there was no aunt in this book. YA paperback, read before Book about a guy, bitten by a snake, wakes to find humanity gone. All the people in town think they are crazy too. The mother has a miscarriage and stays locked up in her room, and the brother is a drunk who Runs over his younger brothers cat, clementine.
The older brother then crashes the car and lights it on fire with himself in it. At the end of the book the little brother decided to kill the rest of his family. The book was about a young black man. His parents are killed in a car accident or a train hit them unsure. He is found in a pig pen at some point, is taken in to foster care, and endures racism throughout his time as a foster child. He is locked in a shed for sometime and manages to escape. He sleeps outside a few times and carries a picture of his mother in his bag.
It may have taken place in or near Mississippi because it had a jazz influence. Looking for the name of a romance book where the heroine is daughter of a demon lord and she kills him at end of first book for her love and is taken to hell to rule to save her unborn child. This book starts out with a woman, her husband, and twins moving into a new neighborhood I believe around the late s earlys. They also learn that they all like to read. This begins a lifelong friendship and monthly book club. They are there for each other over the years as they face the challenges of raising their children, keeping their marriages together, supporting friends through divorce and ultimately through cancer.
I believe the cover had a picture of a woman floating in a pool in an inertude with a big floppy hat and a drink. I'm looking for a book by the name of yellow shoes. It's about a person that work in one of London airport. It was large and thin. The one I had was hardcover with a removable paper cover.
It was a collection of short scary stories that had unique artwork. It was painting and ink that used mostly blacks, grey, blues and red and white, maybe some skin tones. There was a lot of splatters for either blood or stars. She starts to fall fo her boy best friend and she invites him to a gala or a dance and she has a terrible time while he has a good one?
After that they sit on her roof top and talk and he leaves her up there hanging. I think they even dated for a while then broke up and stayed as friends. She wrote him letters I think? The cover had a light blue background with a bright yellow candy heart broken with the title. I really liked the book! A group of girls i think 4 plan to murder a boy that they hate for personal reasons.
They plan the murder with great precision so that they murder is not traced back to them and no one except the 4 of them knew about this plan. But before they can commit the murder themselves, the boy is killed in the exact same method that they planned, by someone else. I'm looking for a children's book 4th, 5th grade where the main character is a boy who lives in a room in a hotel that his father manages. The curse went along the lines of "when this lump of peat burns away, the child will die and go to clay". There were other stories as well like the one about an australian aboriginal medicine man warning a construction crew against building a road through a cursed thicket of trees, of course tragedy strikes and the road is built around the trees in the end, also one about a tree in africa that was known to the locals to strangle anyone who wandered to close at night.
Another with a mummified cat being taken from a tomb only for its spirit to escape its binds through a hole in its throat shocking the collector that brought it along. Another with a boy somewhere in england disappearing seemingly into thin air atop a hill when he was going to milk the cows or something, but his parents and the locals could hear his disembodied voice crying out for help over the following weeks until finally it fades away entirely.
There were also 2 stories about ufo's that i can remember involving one plane being slammed into the ground by what seemed like an invisible hand, and another where some airmen keeping watch over a plane graveyard when the ufo appears and one of them decides to hop into a still functional ww2 plane to chase it only to nearly "ram himself up its tailpipe" when it suddenly stops. It even had a variation of the girl with the ribbon around her neck that involved an artist who couldn't get enough of painting her portrait.

He charges at a prepared Tyler but eventually bashes him against concrete. Henry here advises Damon to attain liberation by letting go of what holds back his true monstrous nature. An exasperated Damon attempts to finish off Henry by setting the coffin on fire. As he watches it burn, Henry reappears telling him that he burnt Elena for good which leaves him devastated. Back home, Stefan assures Damon that he will always have his back who is at a loss of words, unable to reveal that his reason to breathe and live is no more as he killed Elena.
Back in Whitmore, Caroline's supernatural pregnancy is affecting her as the babies are siphoners who keep siphoning away her vampirism magic causing her to desiccate inside out. Valerie tries swapping their magic source for a magic-filled talisman but eventually it all goes in vain. Officer Penny learns about Mystic Falls brimming with vampires from Matt. Puzzled, the Heretics carry on their search when suddenly, Rayna attacks Bonnie who is saved just in time by Enzo who kills off Rayna. It is revealed that Enzo sent the 'X' cards to track Rayna; he burns her to ashes only to revive her back in her young true self.
Elsewhere, Damon returns to his road-kill antics, picks on Julian and indulges in dangerous games with his mates. The fight gets nastier with Julian stepping up to fight him. By this time, Stefan has reached the spot and begs Damon to stop, who gives him a deaf ear continuing to fight as if he had a death wish. After a while, Damon begs Julian for death. Stefan interferes and finally gets Damon to walk off the ring. Eventually, Damon discloses about him burning Elena alive to a stunned Stefan who beats him up, abandons him and has a breakdown. He is now hell bent on killing Julian. Damon looks on as he stands there taken over by remorse and bleeding profusely.
Back in Mystic Falls, Valerie and Stefan finally take on Julian as Stefan catches him off guard and stakes him while Valerie keeps them cloaked. Back in Salvatore boarding house, Damon gets an unexpected visitor, a brunette she saved him during one of the ring fights who comes in and kisses him. Wallowing in emptiness, Damon gazes into her eyes accepting the bitter truth of fate and as a final jolt of mental agony, he bends down to kiss her back. Rayna is a supernaturally blessed vampire huntress who was once compelled by Julian to kill her own father, a hunter belonging to one among The Five, using the Phoenix sword as her weapon.
Back in , hell bent on seeking revenge, she had impaled Beau and staked Julian into the Phoenix hell-stone. She has now released herself and retrieved her sword from Bonnie and Damon. Caroline's fast desiccation called for an early C section delivery which was aided by all the Heretics and later Bonnie. Suddenly, Beau's wound reopens and he gets killed and burnt by Rayna. Nora and Mary Louise run for their lives. Meanwhile, Valerie and Stefan try easing the delivery the twins were reluctant to come out thus leave their constant source of magic.
Bonnie, Alaric and Valerie watched as Caroline successfully gave birth to the twins. Damon distracted and tried fighting Rayna but almost gets staked just as Stefan came to rescue. In this process Stefan gets marked by the sword once more forcing him to run from her. Enzo informs Damon that Elena is alive and well protected by his men and that he was hallucinating her death. Beyond relieved, Damon promises Stefan that he will make things right now that life has offered him a second chance.
Alaric names the twins Josie in honor of their mom Josette Laughlin, and Elizabeth, in honor of Caroline's mom. Caroline moves to Dallas with Alaric and the twins. Valerie locates an anti-magic bar in New Orleans , "St. James Infirmary" where Stefan must hide as Rayna's sword will not be able to trace him there. At the bar, Stefan meets Klaus. He eventually finds out that Stefan is there hiding from Rayna and is furious. He asks Stefan to leave, and Stefan forgets his phone. Klaus gets to talk with Caroline, finally agreeing to protect Stefan and does so.
While on the run, both Nora and Mary Louise are tranquilized and captured by men who work for "The Armory". Meanwhile, Bonnie and Damon meet Enzo at a supernatural museum-like organization named "The Armory", who are desperate to lock up Rayna. Enzo works for them as they are giving him information about his family. He wants to know Stefan's location in order to lure Rayna in. Damon adamantly keeps his brother's location a secret after getting warned about the organization's dubious past from Valerie.
An equally adamant Enzo tranquilizes Damon and knocks out Bonnie it is shown that, somehow, Enzo makes Bonnie immune to magic.
People who bought this also bought...
Damon finds himself locked in with a comatose Tyler who will soon transition into a werewolf because it is a full moon. Bonnie takes desperate measures to save Damon from being bitten. Damon struggles with Tyler, who makes him realize that "people around him are always dying in order to save him and it must stop". Taking it to heart, Damon advises Bonnie to not open the cell as she could die. Undeterred, Bonnie manages to open the cell, only to get her skull bashed by Tyler who runs away after a fight.
Damon sees that she is not healing with his blood and gets her hospitalized. As he talks to an unconscious Bonnie, he says that he is deeply hurt to have put her and Stefan's lives in danger, both of whom tried to save him. This makes him think that it would be best to take himself out of the equation as to no longer bother his loved ones, and it will all end tomorrow. Stefan and Valerie pursue a herb that can hide them from Rayna. With help from Matt, Damon finally captures Rayna and kills her multiple times in order to die permanently. Bonnie and Enzo discover that once Rayna's lives are over, all of those she marked will die as well and inform Damon just in time before she dies permanently.
Damon escapes and notifies Stefan of his intention to desiccate for the next 60 years, to Stefan's disapproval. After an advise from Penny, Matt confronts Stefan and tells him and all vampires to get away from Mystic Falls, otherwise he will show the world the existence of vampires on a CCTV footage. Damon arrives at the storage unit where he plans to desiccate alongside Elena's coffin, but Bonnie shows up letting him know that she is extremely hurt with his decision. She leaves him there and Damon finally lies down to slowly desiccate near to death with hopes that he has saved his loved ones from the array of bad choices he makes putting their lives in jeopardy.
While doing so, they meet an accident that injures Matt badly. Alaric and Caroline decide on making the twins open up the vault by siphoning off Bonnie's spell. Penny's spirit makes Matt realize that he deserves better, making him regain his consciousness. The twins open the Armory. Damon and Stefan go inside. Enzo lures Bonnie to the cabin letting Damon and Stefan buy more time. The tiny cabin gets nasty as Bonnie, unable to hold her urges, holds a stake down Enzo's chest. While searching, Damon and Stefan finally approach the vault which Damon decides to venture in, alone.
He assures Stefan that in some way or another, everything will be okay. They share a handshake and hug and part ways as Damon finally gets inside the vault. Enzo recollects of the glorious 3 years as he struggles to the impale while Damon, just in time, finds the Everlasting's body, sets it on fire thus severing the link and lifting the curse off of Bonnie. Outside, Alaric tells Caroline to stay back with Stefan and parts ways on good terms saying that no matter what, they will always be family.
