Well, this has been the focus of most of my blog writing over the past years, with all sorts of strategies derived from a variety of different studies. In my last blog post, I re-emphasized the importance of not paying attention to these emotions when they arise. Not a simple thing, I understand, as I noted above that negative emotions affect are related to and even seem to cause rumination.
The research summarized in this chapter makes it clear that negative emotions really do undermine self-regulation through processes like rumination that puts too much load on working memory which derails monitoring our goal pursuit , or by provoking a hedonic response to feel good now. Gross offers some potential points of intervention in his own process model of emotion. In any case, the focus here is on cognitive change, the kind emphasized in cognitive behavioral therapies, for example. For some of us, this is certainly made more difficult by personality traits such as low emotional stability, as we are more chronically attuned to negative emotions.
However, we can learn to act out of character as we learn new strategies to cope. Strategies that are much more effective than avoidance, self-blame and behavioral disengagement, each of which has been demonstrated to be risks not only to our success, but to our health.

Organised Religion has had such an exacting effect on brainwashng us - hey. Stop make people artificially happy. I will never cooperate. I want to be myself. I can be poor as a great writer and violinist, but never doing sth what I truely hate. Sometimes the enemy puts an unforgiving spirit into the believers. This is the most frequent poison that believers take in. This probably accounts for the majority of the cases of failure in spiritual believers.
This kind of poison, such as fastidiousness and vengeance, is the most deadly poison to the spiritual life. Even after a believer has suffered from this poison, most of the time he will still not be clear about what happened or realize that this poison came from Satan. Instead, he thinks that he hates others and that this cannot be removed. Sometimes Satan causes believers to become narrow. He will cause believers to set a boundary for themselves and separate themselves from others. If believers do not have the concept of the church being the Body of Christ, instead making their own little group their foremost concern, it is a sign that their spirit has dwindled and become narrow.

The Bible says in Colossians to be led by peace in making decisions. Don't let your emotions make your decisions. A good statement to remember is this: "Wisdom says wait; emotions say hurry. In the past I experienced a lot of ups and downs, or what we call mood swings. This kind of behavior was hard on me, as well as everyone around me. I felt bad about myself.
People who are out of control always feel unhappy with themselves. God created us to operate with a free will. We choose what we will do and what we won't do.

There is a God-given desire inside the believer to do the right thing. Self-control is a freedom, not a bondage. You don't have to do what you feel like doing.
