I first became a Christian in a Pentecostal chapel service. It was loud, lively and very expressive. Particularly strange was the way they prayed.
Folks shouted, waved their hands and jumped around! I was told this was what it looked like when the Spirit showed up and did his thing. I was desperate for whatever contact with the Spirit I could get, and if it meant getting a little weird, so be it. And God did meet me and began changing my life. But as time went on, I grew more uncomfortable with what seemed to be showy, strange and sometimes manipulative behavior. Eventually, I became gun shy and avoided the Spirit and anything that might smack of weirdness — like prophesying, praying for the sick or casting out demons.
I may have been more comfortable — but I lost something. And let us love our neighbour as ourselves. When we come to faith in Christ and receive His salvation, it's the beginning.

Patricia Gray concludes her short sermon series centred around the Psalms and prayer. In this first of three sermons examining prayer and the Psalms, Patricia Gray teaches us that through prayer we grow closer to God, hear His voice more clearly, and function better. We must protect the integrity of the message while still adapting how we present it to our culture. Stu Allan encourages us to be history makers! What is it that God has spoken to you about being or doing in this present season where you need to take a step out in faith and take the initiative so that you bring glory to God and make His name known?
As Christians, we should be highly committed to the growth and well-being of the people we are serving, people whom we call family. But we should most especially be committed to Jesus the Christ. Gary Bentley brings a word based around the story of Jesus being tempted, rather tested, in the wilderness from Matthew chapter 4. Stu Allan shares a word about The Word. Paul Airy exhorts us to live a life of surrender to God! Our value is shown in how we work well together as a team, in how we help to build up the Church so that it looks and acts more like Jesus. Gary Bentley opens up and explores the phrase - The rhythm of Heaven.
In the world of paid work, we can calculate the value of an employee by working out how much money they help the business generate. It sounds cold, but generally, that's the point of being in business - to make money. How do you place a figure on someone who serves for nothing? How are we able to perceive value in what we do for free?
LIVING NATURALLY SUPERNATURAL
Mark Kelly opens up the how, why, and what for concerning baptism in the Holy Spirit. God has given us a comfort that is greater than anything culture, other religions, or our own preferences and desires can provide.
The Church is made up of people we might not always get along with or even agree with - but that's something God can use. Despite our differences, the Holy Spirit unites us and works in our hearts and communities for our good and for His glory! We should expect uncomfortableness because the crucifixion and what Jesus did on the cross is at the very centre of our faith.
How to Be Naturally Supernatural Everyday | Doug Addison
We should look to Jesus as an example of how to deny ourselves and take up our crosses, for it is in His work that we find true comfort. Rather than attempting to find our dream church, we should embrace the uncomfortable and difficult parts of the Christian life — a life that by default means we are connected to people, and people can be awkward, and in some cases downright peculiar!

For there is peace and a good hope given to the sons of men. Geoff Newton offers up some thoughts on Kingdom, Church, and the Holy Spirit and uses verses from Luke chapter 1 to help us. Some of us are so familiar with the Christmas story that we can let the detail of it brush over us. But it is good, and important, for us to pause and to ponder in our hearts the reality and wonder of who God sent and why. Every believer has been given a mission by God to advance his kingdom and get back his lost children. We will share the good news with others when we have a missional mindset, not a selfish one.
