The Exhibitionist No. 7
In a street of handsome townhouses immediately off the main artery Cromwell Road and opposite the Natural History Museum. The open plan ground floor includes set pieces such as chandeliers, a life-sized bull, a pair of ballerina legs made from bark and flowers that stick out of a large urn, as if she is in the process of disappearing; a male mannequin standard lamp by Jimmie Martin and statement furniture by Jimmie Martin and Squint. Eight spaces in the hotel, including bedroom corridors, have been given over to contemporary artists to decorate on a twice-annual rotating basis.
Staff are kind and helpful; they are a new team the hotel has only just opened and will no doubt become cohesive. Rooms are definitely on the small side, but newly decorated, with over-sized, brightly coloured velour headboards as their main decorative element. Excellent new bathrooms. There are four feature rooms: two penthouse suites furnished eclectically by Jimmie Martin and Squint respectively; and two amazing basement suites with their own entrances which are both equipped with large plunge pools and would make great settings for romantic interludes.
